The part-time Internship Coordinator for CEHS Career Services oversees the management of the student internship experience for the Family Science and Human Development (FSHD) department. The Internship Coordinator administers all aspects of the academic internship for FSHD students and interacts at a high level with the FSHD Department Chair, students, faculty, staff and external constituents.
Student Advisement: Â
Meet with and advise students through the internship process from exploration through enrollment ensuring all fieldwork pre-requisites are met.
Inform students about the different internship opportunities in the human services field.Â
Plan and coordinate an information session and orientation meeting for students each semester.
Educate students on the internship process through marketing materials as well as in-classroom and workshop presentations.
Maintain and update the FSHD internship orientation manual for students.
Maintain communication with established fieldwork sites.
Review internship descriptions with employers so the experience complies with department standards and guidelines.
Develop and maintain relationships with employers, alumnae and other stakeholders to identify and develop internship site leads on a continuous basis, including making periodic site visits.
Develop, update, and maintain affiliation agreements with sites as needed.
Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of internship best practices.
Maintain and update the FSHD internship site manual.
Maintain an internship database and student fieldwork records.
Track procedural and documentation requirements for students enrolled in FSHD 409.
Regularly schedule meetings with the department chair, staff, and faculty to remain up-to-date on internship course requirements.
Maintain and/or modify appropriate forms and paperwork that students and internship site supervisors must complete.
Consult on any student internship issues or problems in collaboration with the FSHD department chair, faculty, and staff, and with the CEHS Director of Career Services.
Collaborate with the CEHS Director of Career Services on developing programming and career events to benefit FSHD students on such skills as resume writing, interview techniques, professionalism, and internship fairs.
Learn about the internship process for the Exercise Science interns and assist with advising and enrollment when available

Masterâ™s Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant program.Â
Minimum of two years of professional experience in employer relations, student/academic affairs, and/or a related function within an institution of higher education.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain essential, confidential records and files.
Masterâ™s degree in counseling, higher education, or a human services programÂ
Internship experience in a higher education setting.Â
