COMMUNICATIONS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANT , Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) , to support student financial aid administration and external communications activities work as part of a team with the department's academic office and communications consultant. Will coordinate and track student financial aid for 120 graduate students, working with faculty, NSE Fiscal Office, and financial administrators in partner units to gather and verify student financial support data and enter it into the graduate appointment portal; provide production, proofreading, editing, and administrative support for communications-related projects/campaigns/events/websites; and work with the communication consultant, administrative officer, and other department staff to assist with the department's communications function. Responsibilities include assisting with the production of print/electronic content; handling routine inquiries; compiling information and drafting varied communications; updating the department website; working with students to prepare stewardship letters and assisting the senior development officer with other stewardship tasks; providing complex support for communications activities/events; acting as vendor liaison; providing editing support and creative help finalizing and sending newsletters and other communications; collecting and processing student appointment information; assisting with developing data gathering guidelines/templates/systems; creating and maintaining an external fellowships database to track funding; assisting with preparing fellowship grant applications; and preparing routine budgets, documentation, and forms.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; mastery of MS Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and basic web editing; ability to master new software quickly; three years' administrative experience in academia in either finance/accounting, communications, or general administration with some duties in both areas; attention to detail; adaptability; and excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
