The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Senior Research Associate in the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in the Extension/Outreach Division.
The position of Senior Research Associate within the Yang-Tan Institute (YTI) is responsible for independently designing, developing and delivering research and related services that are closely aligned with the strategic mission and core values of YTI and the ILR School. The Senior Research Associate will also be responsible for contributing to writing of research reports and scholarly publications for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
The position's primary focus will be: *Support the Autism Transition Research Initiative (ATRI) in the development and testing of surveys. *Lead the execution of literature reviews for transition predictors for youth with Autism. *Support the ATRI in establishing its subject matter expect panel. *Collaborate on research design and data analysis plan for the ATRI. *Develop and disseminate ATRI practitioner briefs and tools. *Collaborate with the ATRI research team in the development and dissemination of scholarly articles, policy briefs, social media and other communications. Participate in the ATRI webinar presentations. *Work with the ATRI team to develop a sustainability and monetization plan. *Support the WorkAbility Innovation (WAI) Lab by working collaboratively with grant applicants to one and develop project research, evaluation, and sustainability plans. *Serve as a member of the WAI Lab grant review committee. *Work collaboratively with successful grant recipients to design research and evaluation plans to measure process and impact. *Working collaboratively with other YTI faculty and staff, lead the development and execution of an evaluation plan for the Neurodiversity in the Workplace program.
Senior Research Associate is a non-tenure track, academic term position with up to a three-year initial appointment. The position may be reappointed on the basis of recommendations by the appropriate Executive Director, Academic Director and Associate Dean as well as available funding and work.
PhD or terminal degree in statistics, program evaluation, economics, applied social science research or other related field.
Minimum six or more years of experience in a research and program evaluation environment (beyond graduate studies).
Demonstrated experience developing and leading research/evaluation projects.Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, providing creative and critical independent thinking while also considering diverse opinions and approaches.
Significant experience and demonstrated competency in diverse qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to statistical analysis, instrument design, conducting observational and experimental research designs, writing of research reports and manuscripts for publication.
Proven ability to design and construct research apparatus, manipulate databases, use computer-based statistical and analytical applications, and be able to design outcome and impact studies.
Proven ability to use and learn different software packages and web-based tools.
Demonstrated writing ability and scholarly record (articles in peer-reviewed journals, articles in trade publications, research and project reports, informational brochures, policy briefs, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to teach and do presentations to large audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative environments and to contribute to the innovation and outcome success of a team.
Experience in leading teams and mentoring, coaching, and supervising academic and/or research personnel and graduate students.
Three to five years of successful grant writing and grant management experience.
Seven or more years of experience in a research and program evaluation environment.
Experience in applied research working with marginalized populations.
Previous experience conducting research in higher education.
Background and experience in program development, delivery of training, teaching adult learners and/or consulting.
Experience developing distributed learning including online courses and a knowledge of web accessibility requirements.
This is a full-time, non-tenure track academic benefits eligible term opportunity located in Ithaca, NY.
