Under the direction of the Managing Director of Miner Wellness, the Wellness Coordinator will assist in the development, coordination, promotion, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive wellness programming for S&T students, with a substantial focus on bystander intervention, sexualized violence prevention and mental well-being initiatives. The successful candidate will utilize best practices and evidence-based strategies to guide wellness programming efforts that will serve to enhance student learning and support the mission of the institution.
Responsible for selected components of the Miner Wellness program, primarily bystander intervention and sexualized violence prevention initiatives and mental well-being initiatives.
Chair STEP UP!, the campus bystander intervention coalition, and assist the strategic planning process.
Expand and advise the current STEP UP! Student Ambassador Program.
Advise the new student group Greeks Against Sexual Assault.
Assist the managing director and other Miner Wellness staff with new mental well-being initiatives.
Work closely in collaboration with campus departments and community organizations to provide comprehensive initiatives that increase student safety and well-being. Primary partners include Equity and Title IX, University Police, Student Diversity Initiatives, Case Management and Counseling Services.
Provide educational outreach, training and programming to the S&T campus community.
Assist in the expansion of current bystander intervention efforts to include topic-specific trainings (with an emphasis on STEP UP! for mental well-being).
Serve as a health/wellness resource to the campus community.
Develop strategic and purposeful marketing plans to promote health programs and services.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Master's degree in Public or Community Health, Health Education and Promotion, Student Affairs, Social or Behavioral Science, Higher Education, Human Services, Communications, or related field preferred.
Background in community outreach or bystander intervention education, with demonstrated competency in harm reduction, multi-systemic interventions, and health education theories.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and student organizations on developmental and preventive outreach projects.
Experience in developing goals, measurable outcomes and program evaluation for health promotion programs.
Knowledge of current and emerging issues regarding wellness, learning, and higher education.
Demonstrated understanding, commitment to, or experience with underrepresented groups and initiatives that enhance inclusive environments is required.
Experience developing social marketing and social norms campaigns, using social media, and application of technology to health promotion.
Effective written and verbal communication and public speaking skills.
Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
