The Department of Art + Design at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art in Graphic Design to teach in a rapidly growing design program, beginning fall 2020.
Applicants should be proficient in the theories and fundamentals of graphic design with a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, Macintosh computer environment, and an understanding of practical industry expectations for new graduates. Applicants should articulate a vision for a rigorous curriculum in graphic design focused on preparing students to succeed professionally by cultivating their technical, aesthetic, and creative processes. The candidate should have the ability to adapt to technological and philosophical shifts in the design industry and the capability to modify courses when needed to meet such shifts.
Organize and teach undergraduate interactive courses in graphic design.
Promote and advance the Graphic Design program and recruit new majors.
Professional Practice and Scholarly/Creative Research.
Service and Outreach including: departmental, college and university committees and community engagement

Terminal Degree in Graphic Design (M.F.A. or M.DES) or related program of study.
Evidence of a recent and applicable professional design portfolio.
Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
A client-driven professional design portfolio, including but not limited to, exploration in interactive design and emerging technology which parallels the desired areas of teaching.
Full-time teaching experience with emphasis on traditional graphic design teaching areas: foundations, typography, socially responsible design, publication and identity development.
Commitment to scholarship, professional/creative activity, teaching and service.
Experience introducing students to professional opportunities such as coordination of internships or co-ops, experiential and service-learning projects, etc.
