IU School of Medicine Financial Services is searching for an experienced and service-driven accounting professional who enjoys relationship building to serve as a collaborator on the team. Serves as a member of the Financial Services team that works extensively with other organizations throughout the Enterprise to ensure the existence and effectiveness of internal controls necessary for accurate financial data and reporting. Additionally, the incumbent will continuously review and improve financial accounting processes and procedures while advising customers throughout the Enterprise on related matters.
The incumbent in this position will be a subject matter expert in accounting for the School, and interact with colleagues at all levels of the School, campus and university under the direction of the Senior Accounting Manager. This position will organize, maintain, and advise on policies, records, reconciliations, and procedures for critical IUSM functions including, but not limited to, Enterprise Alignment Funds Flow, revenue processing, internal and external audits, business continuity planning, capital assets, and accounting.
Manages Enterprise Alignment Funds Flow activities for the School, including tracking of all funds flows between IU Health (IUH), IU Health Physicians (IUHP), and the School. Serves as a primary point of contact with IUSM Legal and IUH/IUHP financial staff concerning these agreements. Directs process improvement initiatives to streamline timing and accuracy in invoicing.
Support the development of accounting standards and controls necessary to maintain integrity of financial reports, metrics, and the chart of accounts. Coordinates internal controls and compliance activities for IUSM under supervision of Senior Accounting Manager. Develops standardized processes and procedures for IUSM Financial Services; partners with Departments to develop, enhance, and adopt standardized compliance processes and procedures for the School.
Calculates Dean's tax revenues and ensures appropriate transfers of funds from department and associated businesses. Partners with other Financial Services staff to ensure the IU Medical Group Foundation (IUMGF) receipts and expenditures are processed in a timely manner. Helps manage outside banking and financial services relationships and coordinates routine reconciliation of accounts.
Complete ad hoc account reconciliation, financial analysis, and reporting tasks as assigned by Senior Accounting Manager. Demonstrate knowledge and serves as a subject matter expert in general financial concepts.
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field and three years of experience in business administration and/or financial management.

Ability to develop plans and procedures and coordinate persons and other resources to accomplish goals. Ability to interpret and present financial information to financial and non-financial users. Ability to bring creative and innovative approaches to the business services team to ensure appropriate financial information is available in a business model that is rapidly evolving. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others, build and maintain positive relationships, effectively work with people of different cultures, and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Ability to take responsibility for solving problems, making improvements, and delivering quality services with a customer-focused mindset in an environment that fosters understanding, collaborative teamwork and knowledge sharing.
