Position Summary: Come join our dynamic team of highly skilled Oracle / PeopleSoft professionals as we build, implement and support one of the largest PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 implementations hosted at Oracle Managed Cloud Services. The UC Office of the President is actively seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead critical projects with enterprise-wide impact across all the campuses / medical centers and the Office of the President at all levels. Here you will have the ability to make a difference and have a real influence in how we can best manage and support this large implementation.
We are looking for a strong self starter who is passionate about pushing optimization and enhancing performance across large and extremely complex databases. You will posses excellent project management skills and the ability to guide a diverse team of highly skilled individuals while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will be able to apply expert level skills in all aspects of database administration and serve as a technical leader in implementing and tuning enterprise database systems. Core responsibilities include developing and implementing enterprise standards, policies, and best practices to manage and support Oracle databases and their corresponding components (OBIEE, DDODS, Informatica) that support our large end-user population across multiple organizational units with high consequences of success or failure.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of Peoplesoft HCM database services and experience in the daily management of large, highly complex databases with numerous instances to be able to provide recommendations and best practices on; SQL tuning exercises to improve processing performance, log management, refresh processes, point in time restores, Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) reports, as well all all related DB components (network, SAN, I/O, etc) that may impact the overall health and performance of the databases.
This is a team lead position and the candidate will have proven experience and expertise with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) for clustering / high availability and statistics management skills including PeopleSoft Cost Based Optimizer (PSCbo) including all Oracle Automation Tools.
As a team lead, you will provide oversight, mentoring, and training to other team members as needed in support of the teams charter and objectives.

Lead and guide a team of highly technical individuals on best practices in supporting and managing various complex databases as well as provide technical guidance to application developers on proper tuning of such. Advanced subject matter expert on Oracle RDBMS and PeopleSoft application. Cross-trains and mentors other database administrators to provide depth of support for multiple RDBMS platforms. Flexible in supporting RDBMS out of subject matter scope. Will work with internal and external contacts as well as senior managers to develop departmental, campus / medical center / OP, organization or community-wide plans and objectives.
Provide technical expertise in managing PeopleSoft and Database systems for UCPath and recommendations for tuning and upgrades for the UC Path Project through: -Facilitation and lead the team in Infrastructure Design, Architectural Design, Provisioning Release Design, and Network Design sessions (capacity recommendations) for connectivity between Cloud and Customer's premises; -Lead discussions with Vendors and Partners for new installations, upgrades, patches and the documentation of procedures as needed; -Oversee and coordinate the complex network integration tasks and provide interoperability assessments for interconnected servers or compute.
PeopleSoft and Database
Provide tier 3 administrative support for UCPath's PeopleSoft deployment including; troubleshooting application, infrastructure system hardware, software, networks and operating systems, escalating application problems to vendor. Collect and document technical and infrastructure requirements and disseminates with team. Ensures systems and support documentation up to date.
As the key delegate for the DBA team, works closely with the TDS CISO to formulate, review and audits policies, procedures and standards relating to database management and security.

Provides routine and emergency 24x7 production support as part of an on-call rotation. May work nights and weekends as needed to resolve issues, implement changes and conduct necessary maintenance. Perform root cause analysis and help with problem management process for incidents.
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of Oracle including database/data warehouse architecture, metadata management, data partitioning, compression and indexing.
10+ years of hands-on experience in Information Technology focusing on database administration, cross-platform infrastructure technologies, services and product implementations with 7+ years of recent PeopleSoft implementation experience.
Expert knowledge of the DB design and implementation concepts is required.
Proven experience in defining and enforcing database standards, policies, guidelines, and documentation.
Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases.
Demonstrated thorough knowledge of Oracle query optimization and performance tuning in large database environments
Expert knowledge about professional approaches and relevant standards and technology for management of unstructured data such as text and images.
Advanced interpersonal, leadership and diplomacy skills in a leadership capacity.
Expert knowledge with the following PeopleSoft technologies: Application Designer, Configuration Manager, Data Mover.
Demonstrated experience with reasoning and ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Proven ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written communication skills which demonstrate the ability to draft clear, concise specifications, documentation and reports as a team.
Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks. Ability to work independently on complex technical projects as well as on a team of technical professionals and relevant decision makers.
Proven experience with external cloud-based solution providers (AWS, OMCS).
Demonstrated understanding of the integration methods and technologies (PeopleSoft Financials, HCM, Integration Broker, Campus solutions) to various external onsite and offsite systems.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
