Job Description Summary
Working at Penn Engineering in the Cremins Lab, the research specialist performs routine laboratory experiments focused on CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing.
Performs routine laboratory experiments focused on CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, including: lentiviral packaging, repair template design, drug selection, single cell clone isolation and profiling, guide RNA cloning, minipreps, transduction/transfection of mammalian cells, genome editing with Cas9 or Cas9 nickase, or dCas9 protein engineering. Perform literature searches, find published protocols, and troubleshoot CRISPR protocols and get them established across a range of cell types and applications in the lab. Maintains an orderly lab notebook, records, interprets and analyzes data within prescribed methods. Position is contingent on continued funding.
A Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Prior lab experience with basic molecular biology techniques, virus packaging, or cell culture preferred. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently is essential.
