Reporting to the Director of Transfer Student Center and Recruitment, in addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the International Student Specialist's typical duties include but are not limited to
Liaise with government agencies, including SEVIS, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Department of State.
Help to ensure regulatory information is up to date on the City Tech website.
Assist with a rigorous outreach and admission process throughout its entire life cycle, ensuring targets and benchmarks
for recruitment and admissions are achieved each cycle.
Support the admission department at events, including occasional evening and weekend events.
Provide excellent and supportive service to prospective and current students.
Ability to travel to metro area schools for recruitment events.
Effectively communicate with students, staff, and faculty via written and verbal modes.
Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings.
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required
Knowledge of F-1 and J-1 student immigration regulations and SEVIS (Student & Exchange Visitor Information System).
Previous experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) strongly preferred.
Relevant immigration regulation, advisement, and compliance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills, computer proficiency, and customer service experience.
Ability to communicate in English and foreign languages is highly desirable.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Organizes and administers programs to support the success of international students.
Coordinates international student recruitment and enrollment services
Collects, evaluates, and reports information on a number of international student success factors
Works with campus departments on programs which promote the success of international students
Creates and implements communications strategies, workshops/events, and other special resources to support the international student community
Monitors compliance activities at the campus (e.g., visas, SEVIS and other reports) and stays current on regulations and other developments
Performs related duties as assigned.
