Under direct supervision of the dining services manager, maintains and sanitizes kitchen work areas, maintains dining and restaurant equipment and utensils, maintains dining rooms, and stocks inventory by performing the following duties:
Performs general kitchen sanitation and ware-washing duties and tasks. Directs, teaches, and monitors assigned student and other temporary employees in the proper performance of dish washing activities. Ensures cooking areas and storage areas for utensils, pots, and pans, and other tableware storage environments are safe, healthy, clean, and sanitary. Performs a variety of heavy kitchen sanitation duties.
Cleans and disinfects pots, pans, utensils, equipment, food preparation counters, and kitchen floors. Washes windows. Empties waste containers. Cleans floors in food preparation areas. Loads dish machine and delivers cleaned and sanitized items to designated storage or usage points. Maintains orderly storage of items. Keeps storage areas neat, clean, and dry. Assists with other kitchen duties as time permits. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and replaces as needed.
High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of standard kitchen practices and basic kitchen sanitation methods. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Acceptable standard of personal cleanliness. Good interpersonal and communication skills including a customer focused approach and the ability to treat employees and customers with kindness and respect. Ability to be a highly flexible team player in a dynamic environment. Proven ability to work comfortably in a group environment. Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and adjust readily to changes in routine.
One year of food service or custodial experience. Current SafeServ food safety certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment and renew as required.
Working Conditions / Demands
Physical requirements of this position include ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, kneel, climb, balance, reach, grasp, push, pull, twist, bend, talk, hear, and see. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift.
SHIFT: 4:00pm - 12:00am
Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodate special meals and events.
