The Sr. Communications Coordinator provides project leadership for content development and communications initiatives generated from the McCormick School of Engineering. The position manages specific communications projects across the entire school/organization and ensuring that projects meet both unit and school goals. The position serves as a primary writer and editor for the communications team, working directly with faculty and students to communicate their work in engaging and meaningful ways.
Develop content for print and web communications channels to highlight the unique work of McCormick faculty and students, ensuring scientific accuracy while conveying news in formats appropriate for all audiences. Work directly with faculty and students to manage approval of content. Write and edit content for a wide variety of applications, including news stories, websites, interactive content, etc.
Serve as a communications editor for the communications office, determining content strategy for e-newsletters and announcements. Assesses that communication meets visual and content brand requirements. Produce, test, and deploy specific communications tactics, such as email newsletters.
Serve as central marketing liaison to communications staff members across the school in departments and programs, providing training and guidance related to dean’s office initiatives to ensure brand compliance across programs and activities throughout the school.
Manage the marketing digital asset management system (MDAM) to ensure that all digital assets are properly uploaded, catalogued, and monitored for use across the University.
Performs other duties as assigned
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as liberal arts, communication, journalism, new media, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Minimum Two years of experience developing and maintaining web content in an academic or corporate environment, including experience with primary ownership of content planning, creation, and maintenance.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Excellent writing and communications skills.
Experience with brand communications and reinforcing brand guidelines across different media.
