The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Midwifery, is seeking a certified nurse midwife or physician assistant for a full-time faculty position at the Clinical Instructor rank. The person hired for this position will be part of a pool of Advanced Practice Providers whose primary responsibilities will be to perform shared rotational inpatient duties. These duties will include postpartum rounds of low to moderate risk women, provision of postpartum contraception/LARC, responding to inpatient obstetrical/postpartum emergent events, Labor and Delivery triage, vaginal deliveries, first assist in obstetrical surgeries and circumcision of newborns. Additional responsibilities will include educating patients, health care professional students and residents, developing education and quality programs for inpatient obstetrical services and participating in departmental and professional activities.
The person hired for this position will work 40 hours/week in rotating coverage, including day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts. Practice location is the North Carolina Women's Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
Education and Experience:
Certified Nurse Midwives must hold a North Carolina nursing license and Approval to Practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) in North Carolina. Physician Assistants (PA) must hold a North Carolina license and be NCCPA certified. If not already licensed in North Carolina, the CNM or PA must meet the specific requirements for licensure in North Carolina and be able to obtain licensing and approval to practice in North Carolina directly after being hired. Two years' experience in a tertiary medical center and a commitment to performing newborn circumcisions is required. Experience as a first assist in obstetrical surgeries and vaginal deliveries is preferred; proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable. Salary will be commensurate with experience, within the salary range of the other Advanced Practice Providers in the department.
