The Rutgers Computer Science department seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellow in Algorithmic Principles of Computer Systems, under the supervision of Martin Farach-Colton. The duration of the fellowship is expected to be two years. The fellowship will cover salary, health insurance and travel.
Applicants should have a strong background in Algorithms with an interests in both continuing their algorithmic research and in integrating into a cross-disciplinary group of researches spanning from Algorithms to Operating Systems. A primary focus of this group is storage systems and over the last few years, the focus of the group has been to produce a file system, BetrFS, that is both fast in practice and asymptotically optimal. This project has provided an excellent proving ground for showing that data structural innovations can make it all the way to the lab, and many of our regular theory publications have found strong motivation in our work with our systems colleagues.
We are looking for researchers who are open to a challenge. No prior knowledge of the systems literature necessary.
