Under the supervision of the Call Center Management, the Call Center Specialist is responsible for customer service, registration, appointment scheduling and insurance verification. Typical duties include answering multi-line incoming patient calls for Maternal Fetal Care & Genetics and Women's Health Call Center, completing online registration, scheduling appointments and securing authorization for scheduled services.
Tasks specifically include triaging patient's symptoms, calculating patients gestational age, securing and entering initial authorization received from referring provider, offering and managing up multiple locations, sending triage messages and escalating red flag symptoms as appropriate. Job standards are to be performed at the EXPERT level
Three (3) years of related Call Center and Front Desk experience in a large complex healthcare setting.
Knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state and private health plans.
Demonstrated experience updating Registration.
Demonstrated ability to schedule between multiple departments.
Strong computer skills and able to work between multiple systems during calls.
Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must possess problem solving abilities by using good judgment and applying these skills to assist customers and ensure customers' expectations are met.
Experience in transcribing orders in Epic.
Knowledge of pregnancy ultrasounds.
Knowledge of genetic counseling diagnoses.
Knowledge of maternal fetal medicine.
Knowledge of High Risk pregnancies.
Experience in working with UCSD Fetal Care and Genetics.
Experience in working in Women's Health.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
