The Center European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (CERES) is an interdisciplinary center in International Studies and Programs. Its affiliated faculty and students focus on the history, socioeconomic and political organization of this area of the world and how processes of global change affect the region. CERES is searching for a new Associate Director to provide support that aligns with the Center’s strategic initiatives.
The Associate Director will report directly to the Director and work collaboratively with the regional and thematic studies centers and colleges. Major position responsibilities include:
Providing support and advocacy in European, Russian and Eurasian studies through networking, outreach activities and organizing events
Supporting international engagement in ISP’s key research areas: agriculture, food and environmental sustainability; health and nutrition; university and institutional capacity building; and diversity and inclusion through grant searching, writing, project design and editing (both for individual faculty members and participating in larger team projects)
Working with CERES Core Faculty to develop research proposals and research platforms
Tracking campus awards and supporting the nomination of CERES faculty
Developing and supporting international partnership initiatives in line with ISP and wider university priorities
Coordinating with units across campus on research, scholarship and outreach
Doctorate -any field relevant to European, Russian
PhD in any field with a specialization relevant to European, Russian and/or Eurasian studies; or substantial subsequent research, teaching and/or outreach relevant to European, Russian and/or Eurasian studies. Previous work experience with research grant identification and writing; demonstrated success in an administrative or leadership capacity, such as having successfully engaged with collaborative research, educational or outreach activities; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships; A history of interdisciplinary collaboration in research, education, or outreach activities; ability to work collaboratively with good interpersonal skills, active listening skills, and attention to detail. Ability to identify and capitalize upon emerging opportunities for research; ability to generate interest and excitement for new ideas and engage relevant partners; demonstrated success in working on and having a leadership role in funded research projects; facilitate high-quality national/international research; International research experience.
