The Assistant Director of PB Coding will be responsible for overall operational oversight for Professional enterprise coding operations at OHSU and OHSU partners both present and future. By planning, organizing, and directing the daily routine of the systems and procedures that ensure Professional coding is complete by designated lag times. This includes providing leadership, direction and oversight of coding functions and charge router entry associated with professional coding. Responsible for leading and directing the organizational and administrative operations for all areas of our control. Facilitates modifications to coding and charge router to accurately reflect patient services and department charges through extensive interaction with billing team and Enterprise Coding staff. Responsible for the development and implementation of systems, policies & procedures to assure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Works collaboratively with billing staff, compliance, IT partners, vendors, managers, directors and staff to further the vision and missing of OHSU.
Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years management or supervisory experience. Minimum 5 years experience in healthcare setting.
Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPC coding guidelines.
Knowledge of coding and documentation compliance related to CMS, JACHO, COP and other regulatory agencies is required.
Knowledge of applied statistics, process analysis and outcomes analysis required. EPIC, Microsoft office required.
Demonstrate strong critical thinking, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
CPC-H certification or certification through AAPC within 1 year of hire
