Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Accounting Assistant I for the School of Social Work. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Business Services. The Accounting Assistant I provides independent accounting and budget support to faculty, Principal Investigators, and research staff. This position provides day to day accounting, purchasing, payroll, and bill payment functions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Maintains financial records and accounts.
Monitors accounts, reconciling payment to accounts and making appropriate adjustments.
Prepares documents relating to grants including budgets, endorsements, sub-contracts and consulting agreements, financial reports and analysis, and other related material.
Provides assistance on miscellaneous accounting and administrative matters as needed.
Performs other related duties as necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two (2) years related experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of grant/contract administration in a higher education setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Organizational and management abilities
Problem solving and interpersonal skills
Experience providing complex, confidential administrative support and accounting
Ability to compile and analyze statistical data and reports
Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
Completed Cornerstone, HCM , and Financial Systems training classes, as well as ECRT training
Rutgers certifications programs including Business Certificate, Communicator's Certificate, Professional Work Skills
Microsoft Office365, Word, Excel.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to work in fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands on time.
Work in an open-environment with several other people, where confidential and private information is to be handled with discretion.
Should be able to focus with many distractions.
