Under the general supervision of the Operations Supervisor, Specialized Desktop Support Services, the Systems Administrator will provide system/network administration and field support for Windows-based local area networks and desktop computing primarily for UCI's Facilities Management operations. Act as a project specific technical lead in the design and development of the infrastructure for local area networks and desktops. Provide recommendations for strategic planning and evaluates new technologies including performing simple to moderate cost/benefit analyses. The incumbent will work directly with vendors and other facilities support staff to monitor and maintain complex campus systems including but not limited to alarm systems, building automation, and HVAC controls. Although Facilities Management operations is the primary focus, the incumbent will also be assigned general operational tasks and assist with software, operating system, and domain migrations.The Desktop support Services team is comprised of 15 support staff supporting campus administrative departments. Our environment consists of 3,000+ PCs and Macs, as well as numerous virtual machines running client/server operating systems that include Windows and Linux based servers.
