The Department of Counseling and Special Education at Central Michigan University invites applications for a 10-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education to begin August 24, 2020. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to contribute to existing program and college initiatives, provide teaching and learning opportunities that support equity and inclusive educational practices across diverse populations, and a commitment to the academic success of all students within an environment that acknowledges, encourages, respects, and celebrates diversity and differences.Responsibilities: Maintain an active research agenda leading to publications, international and national presentations, and pursue external funding. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Teach undergraduate and graduate special education courses utilizing varied approaches which include face-to-face, online, or hybrid teaching formats. Supervise student research. Engage in university and professional service.
Earned doctorate in special education with an Early Childhood emphasis; ABD will be considered so long as degree is conferred prior to start date. Record of three years of Pk-12 teaching experience. Evidence of teaching effectiveness. Evidence of potential for successful research and/or scholarly activities commensurate with rank. Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse individuals and/or groups in a culturally responsive manner. Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
