The GEAR UP site director will have the responsibility to design, oversee and deliver postsecondary awareness and readiness programming for a specific school. This position will recruit, hire and train tutors and support staff as needed. The site director provides program oversight, services to all cohort students, develops programming, establishes communications with building teachers and administrators including the principal, counselor, and data personnel to ensure smooth running of the program. The site director will engage with project partners as appropriate to leverage resources. This individual will provide direct services to all cohort students and their families, including academic readiness, postsecondary awareness and readiness, financial aid awareness, parent outreach and career exploration.

Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, counseling, a STEM field or a closely related field.
Experience in a school setting addressing the needs of special populations such as nontraditional and underrepresented groups.
Demonstrated ability to manage program data including participation and demographic data.
Demonstrated administrative skills including proficiency using MS Office.
Demonstrated ability and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences.
OR an equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Master’s degree in education, youth development, counseling, a STEM field or a closely related field.
Teaching or training experience.
Demonstrated success in coordinating resources from a variety of local and community-based organizations.
Demonstrated ability to work with community organizations, educational and social service resources.
A record of promoting inclusivity in the work environment.
Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds.
Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse populations.
Demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students through various activities.
