A postdoctoral research scholar position is available in the Department of Internal medicine in the Cardiovascular Division. Research in the laboratory is broadly focused on the identification of novel molecular signaling signaling pathways operative in the endothelium, and vasculature in general, in both health and disease states such as hypertension and diabetes. Research in the lab ranges from basic protein chemistry (such as protein-protein interactions and post-translational modifications in vitro) to cell culture based studies (both in vascular and non-vascular cell types) to measurements of physiological parameters in small animal models of vascular diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Opportunities also exist to apply some of the fundamental discoveries made in the lab to focused translational human studies. Conduct research in a collaborative environment which encourages independent and creative ideas and approaches. Post-doctoral scholar will be self-motivated and will be responsible for the experimental design, collecting and analysis of research data, maintaining log books, troubleshooting experiments, and training graduate students and research assistants. Post-doctoral scholar will also be responsible for the preparation of manuscripts related to his/her work and keeping up-to-date with the literature.
