Advertised Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive mental healthcare for patients seeking services through the Counseling & Psychiatry Department. The provider will practice as part of a care team model and have ample resources to assist with care including counseling, social workers, psychiatrists, physicians, nurses and registered dietitians. The provider will assess, diagnosis, provide treatment and manage behavioral health and psychiatric disorders. Will also provide education and implement prevention strategies to assist in the patients overall health and well-being. Provides a range of therapies to patients and may conduct individual, group or family counseling sessions, and prescribe and monitor medications. This position will be responsible for assessing, recommending and processing voluntary and involuntary commitments to local hospitals. They will serve on high-risk and specialty treatment teams (i.e. eating disorder, alcohol). The provider will document patients' medical and psychological histories, physical assessment results, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions or outcomes within an electronic health record. The provider will respond to campus crisis when needed and as appropriate. Position is consider essential personnel.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Nurse Practitioner – Master's degree from accredited school of nursing (Advanced-Practice Registered Nursing) and 2 years' experience in psychiatry/mental health environment. Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) (or eligible) by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Requires an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license (or eligible) in SC. Must obtain and continuously maintain credentials and privileges.
