This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Library Technician 3 position for the OSU Libraries and Press at Oregon State University (OSU).
As a member of Oregon State University Libraries and Press, the employee in this position must be sensitive to the needs of an inclusive and diverse community at Oregon State University. The incumbent will be expected to fulfill the relevant duties in support of the University's core values in promoting a welcoming, respectful and accessible environment while engaging with members of both the University and the OSU Libraries and Press communities (OSULP).
The LT3 role requires a high degree of independent judgment in the interpretation and application of rules, policies, and procedures for evaluating workflows and processes on an ongoing basis. In addition, they will use knowledge of policies and professional experience to enhance collection development and customer service efforts. Daily decisions are made to prioritize and coordinate work for maximum efficiency, and to meet deadlines in a fast paced and evolving environment. All decisions made by the LT3 impact the effectiveness of the department, relationships with stakeholders, and level of service provided to OSU customers.
Bachelors degree plus two years of current (within 5 years) experience in a Library; OR 4 years of current library experience. AND Advanced proficiency in multiple library specific computer applications, e.g., integrated library systems, database applications, institutional repository; content management systems. Some positions may also require in-depth knowledge of specialty area(s), e.g., original cataloging, complex copy cataloging, serials management, ILL management, government documents, image resources, music.
Experience providing excellent customer service experience.
Experience purchasing, processing payments, tracking invoices and credits for an organization.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.).
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Must be able to lift and push library book carts weighing as much as 30 pounds.
