The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks a full time Postdoctoral Researcher to join an exciting project in collaboration with Biomedical Engineering. The ideal candidate will have previous lab experience in the reproductive sciences and working with mouse models. This candidate will work closely with the laboratory and project PI, as well as other research staff with the primary focus of studying the effects of testosterone administration on reproductive function in a transgender mouse model. The position will entail working with animals, including administration of hormones to animals, daily monitoring, blood collection, superovulation of mice, in vitro fertilization techniques, and cell and follicular culture.
Planning and execution of scientific projects
Collaborative participation in all aspects of hormone administration to animal model system including injections, surgeries, daily monitoring, blood and vaginal cytology collection, euthanasia, and postmortem processing of tissues.
Rigorous documentation of all the experiments
Process research samples including tissues and blood.
Perform histological characterization / analysis of samples, including immuno histochemistry and H&E staining.
Superovulation and in vitro fertilization with mice
Formulate research methods and suggest options for improvement
Attend weekly laboratory meetings with at least 50% attendance
Attend monthly meetings specific to the transgender project
Contribute preliminary data, background and significance, and experimental design for grant proposals
Present and discuss scientific findings in scientific meetings
May supervise laboratory graduate students and undergraduate students in conducting sample preparation, experimental design and data analysis of a variety of projects
PhD in Reproductive Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, or a closely related field
Previous experience with processing tissue and blood, DNA/RNA extraction, immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a unit
Demonstrated publication skills
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience working in a research lab setting studying reproductive health issues
Skills in cell biology, molecular biology, and mouse models
Experience with mouse in vitro fertilization
