Fringe Benefits Fiscal Officer, Financial Affairs - Georgetown University Main Campus
The Fringe Benefits Fiscal Officer manages the account reconciliation process, ensuring that general ledger accounts as assigned (including employee benefits, debt, leases, etc.) are fully reconciled on a monthly or quarterly basis, oversees the accounting and monthly reconciliations for all employee benefits transactions and manages the successful completion of all external audits of employee benefit plans, and maintains control over internal accounting activities such as expense allocations and internal banking operations. Reporting to the Assistant Controller within the Financial Affairs division of the University, the Fringe Benefits Fiscal Officer (to be renamed) has additional responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
Performing monthly ledger account reconciliations and preparing adjusting journal entries where required
Preparing support and documentation for monthly closing entries involving employee benefits and employee benefit plans
Prepare monthly benefit claims reconciliations and adjustments as required
Coordinating with external auditors to complete successful and efficient audits of employee benefits and employee benefit plans
Preparing and reconciling monthly internal allocation entries
Maintaining accounting records for University central banking operations
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting;
Certification as a CPA
5-8 years progressive experience in financial accounting, reporting, and audit
3-5 years experience in working with employee benefit plans
Strong technical accounting and financial expertise, leadership and good judgment
Analytical, modeling, and dashboard experience as well as experience writing fiscal policies and procedures
Experience in complex higher educational institution or not-for-profit organizations
Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Great attention to detail
