Position provides general custodial services by performing a variety of cleanings tasks to maintain a safe and healthy work area for staff, students, and faculty. Provides a high level of customer service. Performs as subject matter expert in general cleaning, works as a floater in your assigned campus area, completes small deep cleaning projects, and operates floor care machines.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs general cleaning procedures, collects and disposes of trash and recyclable products by taking to the appropriate compactor, vacuums and dusts in all work areas, clinics, and laboratory environments. Washes interior windows.
Cleans and disinfects restrooms, offices conference rooms, common areas, and break rooms. Assists with setup of table and chairs for meetings and special events.
Operates floor care machinery, such as the auto-scrubber, side-by-side machine, and extractor, with expertise and performs routine maintenance on equipment. Removes difficult stains from both carpets and hardwood floors.
Takes a proactive approach in department safety procedures by using a high level of safety awareness. Assists in promoting departmental safety procedures by being an active member of the safety committee.
Assists with event set-ups and breakdowns.
Provides a consistently high level of customer service by assisting with customer service requests and complaints.
Fills in as floater in any custodial area within your assigned campus area.
Performs additional tasks and duties as requested by the supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two or more years of custodial experience.
Custodial and/or housekeeping experience in a hotel or medical facility.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work well on a team with others.
Ability to demonstrate good judgement.
Ability to practice safety procedures at all times.
Ability to demonstrate mastery of general floor care equipment.
Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning and operating machines.
Ability to understand and utilize basic computer technology.
Ability to learn basic IT applications as they apply to custodial department.
Thorough understanding of cleaning and equipment processes.
The hiring range for this position is $12.69 - $15.45 per hour.
Applicant Special Instructions:
This position has exposure to cleaning agents/chemicals, heavy lifting and prolonged standing/walking kneeling, crouching and bending.
