This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Oncology. The position is located at the Center for Advanced Medicine. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Serves as a liaison between stakeholders (patients, staff, family, healthcare professionals, and general public) and advocates for the needs of the patients and treatment center.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greets patients/family/visitors to the Siteman Cancer Center.� Answers questions and provides directions as needed.
Verifies patient’s identification, checks patients in EPIC system, validates demographic and insurance information and verifies completion of pre-treatment testing/procedures/appointments.� Applies identification band/ labels as indicates.
Obtains signed consents, financial responsibility forms, patient history and questionnaires and assists patients in completing forms as needed.
Collects co-payments and accurately balances cash drawer at end of shift.
Prepares for next day of service by printing demographics, reports, forms and demographic labels and organizing these to facilitate consistent work and patient flow.
Answers incoming calls and directs calls and assists clinical teams and co-workers in the coordination of patient services.
Schedules walk-in appointments as directed by the clinical teams or treatment providers.
High school diploma
Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements)
1-2 years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience
Education in a healthcare or customer service field
Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize work in a fast paced medical office setting
The hiring range for this position is $13.12 - $15.99 per hour.
