The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a researcher (M.D., Ph.D., or Psy.D.) with experience in traumatic brain injury (TBI) research. Appointment rank and tenure will be at a level consistent with the applicant's accomplishments and will include the expectation of current or transition to independent funding. Leadership as a principle investigator of a research program that includes neurorehabilitation interventions and outcomes research related to traumatic brain injury (TBI) is strongly preferred. The successful candidate is immediately eligible to participate in the department's faculty incentive program focusing on scholarly and teaching activities. The UAB Department of PM&R has a recognized program in TBI research that warrants expansion given the number of trauma cases seen at this Level 1 Trauma Center and the impact of TBI on the lives of our patients. Funding sources for TBI research activities in our department have included NIH, CDC, NIDRR, and DOD. The UABTBI Model System program has been continuously funded since 1998, with one of the largest enrollments of TBI cases of any center.
