Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Radiation Safety Technologist.
Under the broad technical and administrative supervisor of the Radiation Safety Officer, the Radiation Safety Technologist conducts a wide variety of health physics services, including performing routine audits of radioactive material laboratories, calibration of laboratory analytical equipment and GM counter, package integrity tests, bioassays, and decommissioning of laboratories. Assists with determining compliance with NRC and NJDEP regulations, as well as policies and procedures established by the Rutgers Radiation Safety Committee.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Chemistry, other physical science, or a closely related field.
*Experience in handling and analysis of radioactive materials is desired; *Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis when coupled with a high school diploma.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. *Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills are required. *Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to lift or exert force up to 25 lbs.
