This position reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid Operations and is responsible for a significant portion of the day-to-day operation of the Financial Aid Office. This position provides counseling and guidance to students (prospective, new, and returning), parents, and other individuals regarding financial aid programs, application procedures, eligibility criteria, and other resource options. This person serves as a financial aid generalist, responsible for knowing all aspects of the financial aid process (to include relevant federal and state regulations and policies; departmental and institutional procedures; and technical functions necessary to execute the same). This position is considered key to the operation of the financial aid office, and it is expected that the individual in this position will reflect their awareness of that fact in the performance of their duties. Incumbent is expected to function professionally with and without direct supervision, using discretion and maintaining confidentiality as outline in Section 479A [20 USC 1087tt] from the US Department of Education.

Possesses a High School diploma
2 years experience in a university or college financial aid office or related administrative position.
Experience in utilizing an integrated administrative software system (e.g., SCT Banner, Datatel).
Excellent customer service skills as evidenced by references or letters of recommendation.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and familiar with Microsoft Access and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (grammar, spelling, punctuation, composition, and proofreading skills.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage projects independently.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and work with diverse groups of people.
