This opening is for an energetic and highly motivated full-time research assistant under the supervision of Alice Graham, PhD. The incumbent will act as a research assistant for NIH-funded research studies with pregnant and postpartum women and their infants. These studies include pregnant women using opioids, in treatment for substance abuse, and with a history of psychiatric disorders. The studies include neuroimaging, biological sample collection, questionnaire measures and behavioral observations.
The Research Assistant will be involved in multiple aspects of the study, including: recruitment, screening and scheduling, administrative and regulatory requirements, and conducting study visits. Study visits include psychiatric interviewing, neuropsychological testing, biological sample collection (blood and urine) and acquisition of MRI data with mothers and infants.
This position will require adopting a flexible schedule, with some evening and weekend hours, and potentially travel to other OHSU clinics (within 5-10 mile range). Research aims are subject to change and therefore priority in duties may change over times.
Bachelor's degree (4 yr) OR Associate's degree (2 yr)and 2 years of relevant experience, OR 4 years of relevant experience
Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
Effectiveness in organizing tasks and setting priorities, multi-tasking, and working efficiently with minimum oversight
Exceptional written and verbal communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to be adaptable, creative, and a quick learner
Major in psychology or other related field
Oneyear of prior research experience
Background in psychological or other medical research, experience working with perinatal/postpartum populations, experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, IRB documentation experience
Knowledge of REDCap and/or statistical packages (e.g., SPSS)
Knowledge or training in test administration and/or clinical interviewing
