Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Director of Operations within the Office of MBA Admissions, the Senior Associate Director for Diversity will be directly responsible for the development and management of strategic initiatives for students from historically underrepresented communities.
Specifically, this position will strategically oversee the recruiting and enrolling of a diverse pool of qualified candidates with particular attention to gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, first generation college students/first-in-family, and military/vets.
Broadly, the position requires the incumbent to develop and implement a diversity recruitment strategy, oversee evaluation and selection, and lead yield initiatives for those from historically underrepresented communities. The continual analysis of data generated by the Office of MBA Admissions to develop and inform those strategies is paramount. A desire and skill set to regularly evaluate and report on data to inform decision making is of the utmost importance.
Bachelorâ™s degree is required. Masterâ™s degree preferred and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Domestic and international travel required. Must possess a successful diversity, belonging, and inclusion portfolio that reflects a strong understanding of intersectionality and the structural challenges associated with recruiting candidates from underrepresented populations. The ability to think and act strategically about members of historically underrepresented communities is required. Strong project management skills and the ability to manage data are necessary. A collaborative team player who demonstrates genuine esprit de corps is required to ensure that best practices in diversity, inclusion, and belonging are being enacted in the Whartonâ™s recruiting, evaluation, selection, and yield efforts. Â Candidate must be a nimble communicator with outstanding written and oral communication skills and possess the ability to work with various stakeholders including current Wharton students, prospective students, senior alumni, administrators, the press, and corporate representatives. Strong EQ and interpersonal skills, including public speaking, are paramount. The ideal candidate will have strong detail orientation and the ability to work as a strategic thinker, contributor, collaborator, multi-tasker, and self-starter.
