This full-time position monitors the safety of the community members and property of the University. Responds to and investigates reports of criminal activity, incidents and conditions on campus. Promotes positive community relations in the performance of his/her duties. Patrols campus on foot and vehicle while enforcing federal, state, and local laws, and University rules.
Monitors the campus environment for any problematic behavior, criminal activity, or other disruptive events (person or property)
Responds to requests for assistance or reporting of any campus incidents or crime
Provides written documentation regarding campus incidents and investigates campus concerns as needed
Provides support for students, faculty, and staff who need assistance with building access, IDs/card access, parking enforcement, or reporting concerns to Bloomington Police
Patrols on foot and by vehicle
Secures buildings by observing locks, windows, and other potential safety concerns
Is a first responder for any campus crisis including physical harm (911 calls, alcohol poisoning, suicide attempts, physical altercations, etc.) and facility concerns (fire, flood, power outage, weather concerns, etc.)
Attends a variety of events on campus to provide security support and monitor crowd behavior
Assists with educating the campus community regarding safety measures for sexual assault prevention, alcohol awareness, personal property, and vehicle safety.
Available to work days, nights (including overnights), weekend and holidays. Overtime may be required.
Has a high school diploma or GED
Has a minimum of five years post-high school experience
Has general incident report writing skills and basic computer skills
Demonstrates a working knowledge of related concepts, practices and ability to use in varied situations
Exhibits an understanding of multi-cultural sensitivity issues that arise on campus, including bias reports, sexual assault concerns, and interacting with a diverse constituency
CPR/AED/First Aid certification will be required
Possesses a valid driver’s license
You will often do extensive walking and standing while working
There will be frequent exposure to all weather conditions while working
