Position Summary: Under the direction of the Global Head of Strategic Partnerships ('GHSP'), the Strategic Programs Manager ('SPM') assists with developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) programs and initiatives. The SPM is responsible for leading the development of key I&E programs as per the department's strategic plan. The SPM will work closely with individuals across functions to meet program objectives, drive organizational change, forge new working relationships and synergies across the organization, and establish greater transparency and accountability for individuals carrying out the department's strategy
The SPM will also lead the development and implementation of potential opportunities for programs (e.g. a continuing initiative to establish the marketplace service matching private sector partners and investors to UC innovators and entrepreneurs), and many other projects ensuring alignment with the vision and goals for the department. The SPM provides advice, guidance, and assistance to the GHSP and/or her direct reports.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Develops project plans and staffing / financial needs to complete them. Work is reviewed and measured based upon meeting objectives. Determines long-term and short-term strategic plans to achieve the objectives of the organization / initiative.

As part of the I&E Strategic Team, the SPM will advise the GHSP on matters concerning strategic initiatives that promote innovation and entrepreneurship in UC. In tandem with the GHSP, makes long-term strategic plans that reflect upon UCOP and the University of California as a whole, and may be emulated at other UC campuses. In coordination with the GHSP, the SPM will help lead the work of the department in the development of strategic objectives, goals, metrics, targets, budgets, and milestones as a strong individual contributor. Prioritizes, plans, designs and implements programs and establishes direction, and production for department. Develops techniques and processes related to and manages the delivery of major projects and programs. Heavy development of briefings, meeting materials, talking points, speeches, and PowerPoint presentations. Provides system-wide influence on the identification and framing of systemic issues, and the formulation and advancement of approaches to address them.
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and 7 years' experience supporting and representing C-level executives or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong individual contributor who can work autonomously to develop briefings, talking points, presentations, etc.
Comprehensive project management skills.
Advanced knowledge of organization-specific computer applications.
Thorough knowledge of organizational processes, protocols and procedures.
Excellent consulting, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills.
