Provide clinical support to the attending physician at Alton Memorial Hospital-Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.�
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with patient care at Alton Memorial Hospital clinic and hospital by:
Evaluating patients and assisting with their care.� This includes, but is not limited to, performing a thorough exam, dressing changes, removing lines and drains, and performing minor procedures.
Wound debridement and management (includes organizing and educating patients about home dressing changes/case care).
Independent Nurse Practitioner Clinic – management of uncomplicated post-operative and peri-operative care of patients including wound management, x-ray evaluation, in-office excisions of lesions, cysts, etc.
Wound Service – consultations, management and follow up.� This will involve coordinating appropriate attending staff involvement for operative cases.
Support the plastic surgery attending physician with consultations and procedures in the Alton Memorial Hospital emergency room and expedite care by:
Staffing ER consultations, if attending is unavailable
Assist with small procedures as needed including wound debridement, laceration suturing, splint and /or cast application.
Facilitate appropriate follow-up with attending physician.
Educate patients about discharge care, home dressings, medications, cast or splint care.
Accurately record and submit documentation of consults and procedures performed so the services can be billed.
Current MSN with emphasis in the Nurse Practitioner program.
APN licensure or ability to successfully obtain licensure within 3 months of date of hire; Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty; Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component. are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
Holds current certification in patient care field and required specialty.
Applicant Special Instructions:
Normal clinic / operating room environment, with exposure to patient elements, prolonged extensive or considerable standing/walking, lifting and moving patients, supplies and equipment with variable work schedule.
The hiring range for this position is $78,915 - $142,077 annually.
