The Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine, Center for Healthy Weight and Wellness, is seeking a Behavioral Health Coach for a full-time position working on a multi-site, PCORI-funded trial to evaluate the translation of an evidence-based, family based weight loss treatment (FBT) for childhood obesity into primary care settings.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Successfully complete training in FBT and data collection procedures at Washington University
Deliver a protocol-driven research treatment program (FBT) to children ages 6-18 and their parents or adult caregivers
Participate in multi-site phone, video and in-person training and supervision meetings
Demonstrate adherence to the treatment protocol through fidelity checks, including but not limited to audio recording of intervention sessions for supervision and auditing purposes
Assist in the identification and recruitment of potentially eligible families from participating pediatric and family medicine practices in Columbia, MO
Administer screening surveys, consenting procedures, and assessment measures
Collect, manage, and transfer patient data in accordance with HIPAA and other human subjects regulations
Maintain professional relationships within pediatric practices and university settings
Schedule FBT sessions and assessment appointments
Prepare participant materials and distribute these in accordance with study time lines and protocols
Maintain case management notes according to study protocol and guidelines
Ensure equipment integrity and condition
Effectively communicate via, phone, text, email, video and in-person in accordance with HIPAA and other human subjects regulations
Offer other reasonable requests to help out the pediatric office staff
Applicant Special Instructions:
Travel between pediatric offices
Work non-traditional hours within a 40-hour work week to accommodate families’ schedules (e.g., evening hours, Saturdays)
Reliable transportation and valid drivers’ license required
Bachelor’s degree required; some Master’s level coursework in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred; must have a minimum of 2 years of experience at a lead or supervisory level; a combination of work and education equaling 6 years may substitute for this requirement.
Master's level behavioral health provider or registered dietitian (M.A., M.S., MSW, or a graduate degree in a related field), with course work in nutrition, psychology, counseling, or another related health-related field.
At least one year of experience delivering evidence-based behavioral treatment(s) to youth, adults, and/or families.
Multi-cultural education and/or work experience in a multi-cultural environment is a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
A high degree of professionalism and competence in dealing with a variety of individuals must be demonstrated.
An ability to organize and present data in a concise and easily understood manner is imperative.
Should be comfortable working with clinical populations.
Supervisory and management skills sufficient to direct volunteers, program interns, and work-study students as necessary.
Working knowledge of techniques and methodologies used in developing, coordinating, and managing clinical treatment programs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
A working knowledge of database management and spreadsheet software.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of interviewing, clinical skills, ability to use various computer systems, and teaching/supervisory skills.
The hiring range for this position is $48,131 - $60,174 annually.
