Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Fishell Laboratory in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School is looking for an independent, experienced and highly motivated Research Assistant to assist in the study of the inhibitory interneurons subtypes and their integration in the cortical circuitry of the mouse brain. This position will:
Execute multiple experiments simultaneously over time independently.
Record all experimental findings in a laboratory notebook, analyze and interpret experimental findings.
Based on results, independently suggest and test modifications to protocols.
Communicate results and collaborates with other professionals in the lab.
Demonstrate a significant level of intellectual input into the design of the project.
Read and understand relevant scientific literature.
Possess previous experience in mouse genetics, stereotactic transcranial injection and immunohistochemistry desirable but not necessary.
This is a 12 month term position with renewal contingent on funding.
Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.

1 year of related research experience. Higher education may count towards experience.
College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences preferred. A minimum commitment of two years is desired. Excellent organizational skills, strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, prior lab experience preferred.
