Davidson College seeks a Financial Aid Counselor to serve as liaison for off-campus study-abroad organizations for aided students; handle the outside scholarship process; coordinate the processing of verification documents for selected FAFSA applications and assist in the completion of the federal verification process; assist with the financial aid need analysis process for student aid applicants; provide financial aid counseling to students, families and mentors; and serve as back up to the front-line contact with the public.
Coordinates the transmission of financial aid to students studying abroad by collecting and processing required forms; sends and receives consortium/contractual agreements to and from off-campus entities; revises student cost of attendance budget as necessary; receives and processes verification of attendance from host institutions; adjusts Banner aid codes and transmits information to Business Services for aid to be allocated to each student’s account.
Coordinates the process of verifying sibling enrollment through the National Student Loan Clearnighouse. Updates Banner throughout this process and notifies the Director of any discrepancies or non-standard situations for aid adjustment purposes. Assists in the processing and completion of federal verification for selected federal and state aid applicants.
Processes outside scholarships for financial aid recipients by updating Banner, verifying receipt of funds while closely working with the student account billing area.
Works as a backup to receive in-person visitors; answers the main phone line; directs both visitors and calls to appropriate parties or answer inquiries personally. Data entry into Banner to code packaging requirements. Assists with yearly edits of financial aid brochures and other departmental information.
Assists with the financial aid need analysis process for student aid applicants.
Provides financial aid counseling to students, families, mentors and others.
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Education required; Writing in a business or higher education setting; excellent communications skills with public and co-workers; understanding of higher education in a private setting; experience with higher education computer systems.
