Job Description Summary
This position will audit medical records to determine accuracy of billing through verification of coding, billing and supporting clinical documentation. This position will also work with all departments in the hospital to improve charge capture opportunities.
This position will audit medical records to determine accuracy of billing through verification of coding, billing and supporting clinical documentation. This position will also work with all departments in the hospital to improve charge capture opportunities. This position will have a dual reporting line to the Director of Imaging and Clinical Service and the Director of Finance.
Performs charge audits and patient assessments by reviewing the patient medical record against the corresponding invoice for both inpatient and outpatient clients.
Work with all hospital departments and serve as a point of contact to obtain information to properly bill for the medical procedure performed.Â
Identify charging practices (including fee code use accuracy) and clinical documentation issues and work with ancillary departments to resolve issues.
Maintain an audit activity report â“ to identify trends for missing and/or incorrect charges and report on findings.
Provide education to all clinical services on standards for documentation and charge capture practices and to look for opportunities of improvement based on audit outcomes.
Perform additional duties as assigned
Must be a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, LVT, RVT or equivalent).
Minimum of 3 yearsâ™ experience working in a veterinary hospital environment, with extensive knowledge of veterinary healthcare and practices.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively required.
Must have excellent communication skills both orally and written.
Must be able to work well with others.
Proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook is required
