POSITION: Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) invites applications for a Staff Counselor position, with a preferred starting date of January 6, 2020. CCS is the only mental health service on campus and functions as a comprehensive counseling center, providing a variety of services to help students with psychological, educational, social, and developmental concerns. The center prides itself on proactive efforts to enhance the mental health of individuals, groups and the campus community as a whole. IWU is a nationally-ranked, small, private, exclusively undergraduate liberal arts university with 1630 students.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or related field with professional license required. Preference will be given applicants with 3-5 years of college/university counseling center experience. Knowledge of developmental issues of college students and demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to multicultural issues is essential. Finally, we seek colleagues who would strive to work collaboratively with their peers, both within the agency and across the campus – those who have strong interpersonal skills (including strong oral, written and listening skills) and who enjoy building positive working relationships with others.
RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking a dynamic professional with skills and creativity to share our commitment to excellence and who would enhance the diversity of our staff. We seek generalists who bring well-developed therapy-skills, and demonstrated experience assessing and intervening with a range of clinical issues and degrees of pathology. Position responsibilities would include brief individual counseling, crisis intervention and management, consultation and liaison; may include some group therapy, outreach programming, and university engagement.
