Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with research projects and scholarly activities
Supports faculty research projects through executing assigned experiments, analyzing data, conducting literature searches and assisting with manuscripts and poster preparation
Assists in running the laboratory; including ordering supplies and maintaining laboratory inventory and equipment
Participates in mentoring students in research
Represents Department and the University favorably and in accordance with the established Core Values and expectations
Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the Department and the University
Fully meets the responsibilities of Research I
Manages research projects and scholarly activities
Supports faculty research projects through implementing experimental design, analyzing the data, accomplishing literature searches, manuscript writing and poster preparation
Manages the research laboratory and office including coordinating the research activities of students
Required to utilize their specialized academic training to conduct intellectual work and experience in supporting students in their research projects, training and mentoring students in various laboratory techniques, and troubleshooting as needed
Perform other administrative tasks (i.e., filing, preparing documentation, ensuring that the laboratory is in compliance with regulatory standards)
Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
Actively participate in team and University meetings
Bachelor's degree in a field related to Biomedical Sciences
One year experience working in a biomedical research laboratory
Must possess working knowledge of research and experimental protocols
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
Ability to analyze a situation and exercise good judgment and discretion as appropriate
Proficiency in basic computer applications required
Must have effective communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work with faculty, staff and students
Must have excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and a self-starter
Requires the ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments accurately
Fully meets the responsibilities of Research I
Master's degree + 1 year experience working in Biomedical Research Laboratory or Bachelor's degree in a field related to Biomedical Sciences + 2 years equivalent experience
Experience with mammalian cell culture, immunoblotting, microscopy, live cell imaging, transfection, PCR preferred

Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
