Reporting to the Assistant Provost for Finance andAdministration, the Director of Academic Finance is responsible for managingand reporting on all aspects of the budget(s) under the control of the Officeof the Provost. This position manages and coordinates the new budget model andbudgeting and forecasting software platform for the Office of the Provost.Serves as lead for all financial matters forthe Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor and is the liaison between the financialstaff for the academic units (colleges and institutes) and the Office of theProvost.Directs business and financialoperations and staff of the Office of the Provost.
Strategy and BudgetDevelopment
Responsible for collaborating with AssistantProvost for Finance and Administration on developing resource allocation plansto support Chancellor and Provost strategic plans and initiatives across thecampus.
Develops, analyzes, and exercises management authorityof the Provost Office budget, and oversight of the Academic Affairs unitbudgets.
Ensures academic unit financial operations areconsistent with the Provost's strategic plans.
Gathers and consolidates budget preparationrequests for annual budget activities such as consolidating merit raise filesfrom the colleges and other Provost units, reviewing all new fee proposals fromthe colleges, making budget transfers to or from the Provost accounts tocollege and Academic Affairs accounts, and reviewing and verifying carryovercalculations and distributions by and to the colleges and Academic Affairsunits.
Serves in an advisory capacity to academic unitswith regards to proper way to perform tasks while ensuring compliance withfiscal policy.
Manages and coordinates the Budget AllocationModel and budgeting and forecasting software platform for the Provost's Office.
Identifies areas of concern related to BudgetAllocation Model software and works with the campus Budget Office onresolution.
Operates as the primary point of contact betweenthe Provost Office and the college administrative deans and budget officersresponsible for budget analysis, planning, and reporting, evaluates variancesand develops explanations and action plans in response to the varianceexplanations.
Translates strategic plans into operationalplans and provides analysis to support operational plans.
Business and FiscalOperations and Human Resources
Directs operations and financial andadministrative staff of the Provost's office, including selection, supervision,performance review, and corrective action.
Conducts ongoing needs assessment of officefunctions and makes recommendations about changes to organizational structuresin order to maintain maximum operational efficiencies.
Operates as the liaison between the ProvostOffice and the other operational areas of campus administration.
