TheAccounting Specialist III reports to the Billing Manager of Revenue Cycle andassists in the revenue cycle of the College of Dentistry. This position ensuresthe revenue cycle is segmented across multiple departments resulting indecentralized accountability and ensures the college ability to harvestavailable revenue dollars.
Reviews and audits charges and notes related to providers' professional services in the practice management system (AxiUm).
Posts and balances payments, by line item, received for providers' professional services into AxiUm including co-payments, insurance payments and patient payments in accordance with practice protocol with an emphasis on accuracy to ensure maximum patient satisfaction and profitability.
Provides customer service for patients and authorized representatives regarding patient accounts in accordance with practice protocol.
Verifies demographic and insurance information in AxiUm and provides feedback to staff members to insure timely reimbursement.
Follows-up on outstanding patient account balances and insurance claims in accordance with practice protocol with an emphasis on maximizing patient satisfaction and practice profitability using the A/R aging reports.
Provides information pertaining to billing, coding, managed care networks, insurance carriers and reimbursements to providers, managers and staff.
Follows-up on returned claims, correspondence denials, account reconciliations and rebills in a timely manner with an emphasis of patient satisfaction.
Locates electronic payments in IRIS and transfers monies into the correct departmental account, and then allocate funds to correct patient account.
Processes refunds to insurance companies and patients in accordance with practice protocol.
Monitors reimbursement from managed care networks and insurance carriers to ensure reimbursement with contract rates.
Develops and/or utilizes crystal reports as needed to support the revenue cycle.
Performs periodic review of aging reports and determines when a patient account is submitted to collections and/or written off.
Performs other duties necessary to support the organization as assigned by management.
