With limited supervision, the Senior HR Compliance Specialist provides HR compliance and consultation services related to equal employment opportunity requirements, federal and state employment laws and regulations, employment litigation, HR policies and procedures, and/or other compliance matters.
Primary duties and responsibilities in order of most significance:
Under the guidance of leadership, serve as the organization's representative and manage all phases of assigned employment litigation matters, including but not limited to, investigation, discovery, document preparation, witness interviews, depositions, mediation, and arbitration/trial. This includes working with outside counsel, vendors and other resources on strategy and preparation of litigation cases.
Under the guidance of leadership, investigate and respond to government agency complaints (e.g., EEOC, DFEH, DOL, DLSE), including discrimination, wage-hour, and other employment-related complaints.
Promote compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations by leading through influence and serving as a resource to other departments and Cedars-Sinai management regarding employment law requirements, HR policies and other compliance matters. Coordinate and work collaboratively with Human Resources, appropriate departments and related stakeholders. Draft and review related internal and external communications.
Support reduction of the organization's exposure to legal risk by developing and contributing to training programs or educational materials for Human Resources and organizational leadership.
May assist with development and implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures, including drafting new policies and updating existing policies. Support continuous improvement by providing recommendations regarding compliance-related policies, procedures and/or processes across the organization.
Participate in special projects related to departmental and/or organization needs/priorities as assigned.
