This position will be responsible for:
Supporting the BCH research community in the use of the REDCap EDC (Electronic Data Capture) system as researchers often submit requests for new REDCap projects, as well as expert advice regarding some of the advanced features of REDCap.
Entry level programming skills, as well as the ability to communicate well with the BCH researchers.
Fashioning SQL queries in order to extract data from a very large clinical data repository and generate reports according to specifications given by researchers. Some of the queries can be quite complex, so a good understanding of the fundamentals of relational databases in general and SQL in particular is required. The candidate should be quick to comprehend the meaning and use of a complex relational schema design.
To qualify, you must have:
Strong understanding of relational database concepts and technologies, particularly SQL.
Familiarity with the clinical research arc from an IT perspective, a great positive.
Good entry level programming and debugging skills.
Familiarity with current software development best practices.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Great sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to deliver complex systems against a deadline.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or closely related field Master's degree preferred with 1 or more years of experience, relational database and SQL experience strongly preferred.
