1. Training and deployment of Continuous Improvement strategies across YARC Operations, including DMAIC, Kaizen, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Gemba, 5S, Project Charters and Visual Management. 2. Provide expert coaching on the full range of Lean & Six Sigma tools and methods. 3. Facilitate Lean Black Belt, Green Belt and Yellow Belt training by overseeing certification projects. 4. Lead and facilitate Kaizen & other Continuous Improvement events to drive change in Customer Value, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.5. Direct and mentor activities of the Logistics staff. Formulate goals and implement action plans required for optimal operations of logistics processes that are currently performed by 5 C&T staff.6. Participate with YARC Director of Operations for short and long term strategic planning and design of the YARC facilities and equipment requirements as it applies to Continuous Improvement initiatives and Logistics.7. Research and implement transportation and materials management solutions, leveraging the expertise and knowledge of industries within and outside of laboratory animal science, when appropriate.8. Develop and implement corrective strategies, policies and processes pertaining to logistics areas of non-compliance or needing improvement. 9. Work closely with the YARC business office to continually evaluate vendor relationships, optimizing for cost effectiveness and quality.10. Develops appropriate plans to meet the current and future infrastructure requirements of YARC logistics. 11. Maintain the Movable equipment Inventory (MEI) for YARC Operations. Ensure equipment is tagged, inventoried and disposed of in accordance with University policy.12. Maintain inventory records and physical control of assets in YARC warehouse locations.13. Provide and support annual budget information and monitoring related to YARC Logistics operating expenses and capital expenditures.14. Attends relevant seminars and conferences as necessary to stay current in field of Continuous Improvement, logistics, and laboratory animal science.
Preferred Education: Materials Management/Logistics experience. Mastery level in application of Lean tools with tangible impact. Enterprise-wide Lean transformation or Six Sigma program deployment experience is a plus.
