The Employee/Labor Relations Specialist provides high-level professional analysis, consultation, coaching and training to campus clients on performance and conduct management, organizational development, strategic planning, policy and regulatory compliance, interpretation and application of University policies, and resolution of workplace problems. If applicable, the Employee/Labor Relations Representative provides guidance as a Labor Relations advisor/consultant to managers and union officials.
In the performance of these duties, the representative may be responsible for providing collective bargaining agreement administration to include:
Providing contract interpretation expertise to management, assisting management with investigating, answering and resolving grievances and responding to requests for information.
Establishing and building effective relationships with labor unions.
Providing labor relations support in preparation for and during contract negotiations.
Conducting labor relations and positive employee relations training.
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited school 2. Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resource Management principles and best practices
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
3. Degree in Industrial Relations/Labor Relations, Human Resources Management, or related field 4. Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they pertain to employment law 5. Experience in higher education setting 6. Experience in a unionized setting
Other Preferred Qualifications:
7. Knowledge of University policies and procedures 8. Knowledge of or experience working with underserved/diverse populations 9. Professional in Human Resources certification (PHR) and/or additional certification through Society for Human Resources Management (i.e. SHRM CP or SHRM SCP)
