TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I , McGovern Institute for Brain Research , to help manage the daily operations of the Fee Lab, which performs multidisciplinary research on the neural mechanisms of vocal control in songbirds. Responsibilities include general laboratory organization and management, including purchasing and inventory control; small mechanical and electronic design and management of a small computer network; and management of a zebra finch colony. The position also offers an opportunity to directly participate in research projects, depending on experience and willingness to learn.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a bachelor's degree in physics, engineering, biology, or another technical field; at least two years of relevant experience; strong computer skills; and comfort handling small animals. PREFERRED : experience with computer programming and electronics, mechanical aptitude and/or machine shop experience, and MATLAB experience. Job #18272
