The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Department of Psychology anticipates hiring a 9-month, full-time Lecturer with additional 12-month, compensated responsibilities as Assistant Undergraduate Program Director to participate in the UMBC Psychology program at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) in Rockville, MD beginning August 23, 2020.
The department seeks a person holding a doctoral degree in psychology who has a record of successful teaching at the undergraduate level. Area of specialization is open, but expertise/interest/commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence is strongly encouraged. Lecturer responsibilities include undergraduate course instruction and possible course design, academic advising, and service on departmental and/or university committees. Committee work will take placed both at UMBC@USG and UMBC Main campus. The successful applicant will play an important role in ongoing efforts to enhance undergraduate writing in the discipline, join a vibrant department with growing strengths in the use of innovative teaching methods, educational technology, and the infusion of human diversity into the psychology curriculum, and contribute to the life, growth, and vitality of the department. The associated position as Assistant Undergraduate Program Director will aid the Program Director in student advising; recruiting, both on and off campus; academic support for part-time adjunct faculty; and other duties as negotiated. The Assistant Program Director position will carry 12-month responsibilities and additional compensation. The Assistant Program Director position may be severed from the Lecturer position in the future without prejudice.
