Tenure Track or Clinical Track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor â Radiology Part Time
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa, invites applications for a part-time, tenure track or clinical track faculty position in Radiology in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). Appointment rank will be determined by the qualifications, documented experience, and interests of the selected candidate.
The position will promote the intrastate and national prominence of radiology/diagnostic imaging services at Iowa State University. Clinical effort will be dedicated to professional practice and clinical instruction to veterinary students and house officers in the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). Additional diagnostic imaging opportunities may be available externally, or within Iowa Veterinary Specialties; an ISU affiliate emergency hospital located in Des Moines, Iowa. The remaining effort may include development of a creative program of scholarship, didactic and laboratory teaching, academic service, and outreach activities. The successful candidate will promote efficient delivery of radiographic and other diagnostic imaging clinical services within the LVMC.
The successful candidate should be highly collaborative with a clinical focus that will enhance and compliment the radiology/diagnostic imaging activities and demonstrate a commitment to fostering a collegial working environment with all faculty and staff.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- DVM or equivalent degree. - Completion of a residency training program with credentials accepted by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) to participate in the Board Examination process. Â Individuals currently in residency training are encouraged to apply and will be considered. - State of Iowa Veterinary License on or before first day of employment.
In addition, the following position will require: ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR: Experience (commensurate with each rank) in veterinary radiology/diagnostic imaging as an ACVR or ECVDI board certified radiologist, a documented record of productive scholarship (example: successful grants), peer-reviewed publications, successful teaching, clinical expertise, and a successful record of resident training. CLINICAL ASSOCIATE OR CLINICAL PROFESSOR: Candidates must meet the requirements commensurate for each rank at the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine.
- An advanced degree (MS, PhD or equivalent). - Experience in both small and large animal radiology/diagnostic imaging. - Expertise in advanced imaging; such as magnetic resonance imaging. - A record of or notable potential for scholarship through both manuscript publication/preparation and preparation/success in granting activity and national scholarly, clinical, or educational presentations.
Department/Program & College Description:
The successful candidate will join the LVMC clinical radiology/diagnostic imaging service which currently includes two tenured ACVR faculty, three radiology residents, and five radiology technologists.
Imaging equipment includes two small animal DR rooms (Eklin Canon 50G plate), an IR suite with Philips Multi-diagnost Eleva stationary C-arm fluoroscopy, a 1000mAs overhead tube plus Sound NEXT DR for large animal imaging, Toshiba 16-slice LB Acquilion CT scanner, Philips EPIQ ultrasound unit, Enhanced Technologies Gamma Camera with new Oasis Acquisition and Processing software upgrade, a GE 1.5T Signa magnet with complete Explorer 25.1 software and RF coil upgrade, and Fuji Synapse PACS system.
The LVMC is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide specialized care and comprehensive medical and surgical services for companion and large animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. Our clinicians, residents, interns, technicians, staff, and senior veterinary students work collaboratively to provide 24-hour, high-quality care to animal patients.
